Feel Good Friday
Happy Friday! Would you like to end your week with wisdom delivered by a child? I invite you to watch the 8 minute TED talk where 7 year old Molly Wright demonstrates how a simple game of peek-a-boo can change the world. You'll be reminded of why the first 1000 days of a human's life is so vital, and how play and connection can set a person up for success in life. Bonus: there is the sound of a baby laughing.
We at the Oregon Health and Education Collaborative know that parents and caregivers want what's best for their children and they do what they can to deliver on that dream. We also know that not every family has access to the resources (time, money, capacity, supports, skills, etc) to consistently deliver what they would like. That is what the Upstream Initiative is focused on; how can we design a system that supports each and every child, family and community to fulfill this fundamental desire?
Our children and families know what they need; let us listen to them and develop the blueprint for a Child Success Model that delivers. When we come together in community, creativity, and connection, then we can achieve this.
In solidarity,
